The Land Use Committee voted to approve the following (see report and watch the meeting video):
- Special Permit/Site Plan Approval to add a third story and further extend the nonconforming Floor Area Ratio (FAR) at 30 Glendale Road (8–0). The project accommodates family needs; the lot topography causes the basement to count toward FAR. Neighbors supported the project and no one spoke at the public hearing. - Special Permit/Site Plan Approval to raze an existing dwelling and construct three attached single-family dwellings in two buildings at 3 Newland Street, including dimensional waivers and a retaining wall over four feet in height (6–2; subject to second call, Councilors Block and Lucas opposed). The proposal includes underground parking and new sidewalk/curbing; neighbors expressed support, though some councilors raised concerns about traffic and parking access. The Land Use Committee voted to hold the following:
- Request to allow ground floor residential use, to allow three stories, to exceed FAR, and associated parking waivers at 1062 Beacon Street (7-0-1, Councilor Downs Not Voting); Public Hearing Continued. The Historic Commission found the existing house “not to be preferably preserved.” Proposed project would replace the existing structure with a four unit residential building, with parking on the first level and one waiver for an undersized parking space. At the public hearing, 2 people spoke in support of the project and 2 spoke against it, believing it was too large for the neighborhood. Petition Documents
