The Tasun Community Garden at Spears Park will have its grand opening on June 17 at 5:30PM at Spears Park at the corner of Washington Street and Walnut Park.
This is the first-ever community garden on the north side of the city, born from a simple suggestion by residents four years ago and brought to life through the collaboration and dedication of many.
City Councilor Maria Scibelli Greenberg expressed special thanks to:
- Parks, Recreation & Culture Commissioner Nicole Banks and her team — Luis Perez Demorizi, Ahron Lerman and Stephanie Lapham — for their continued guidance.
- Supporters and benefactors, including the CPC, the Parks and Recreation Commission, The Village Bank, Senator Creem, Green Newton, and The Hauser Trust.
- Eagle Scouts Dhruv Vallurupalli and Trent Sturtevant and their troops, whose efforts played a vital role in constructing the garden beds.
- Mayor Ruthanne Fuller for securing ARPA funding for the project.
