The bells of the First Unitarian Society in Newton (FUUSN) will peal on April 18, 6PM-6:15PM, joining other places of worship across the country. All will be resonating with the bells of Boston’s Old North Church, where two lanterns were hung exactly 250 years ago to signal Paul Revere to warn Minutemen of the British troops approaching “by sea” (across the Charles River) on their way to what became the Battles of Lexington and Concord and the start of the American Revolution.
The current event is seen not only as commemorating events of 250 years ago but also a stand against modern-day tyranny.
Organizers are inviting people to bring signs and bells — and line the sidewalk in front of FUUSN (1326 Washington Street, West Newton).
