Leila Novak Mostaghimi, who plays clarinet, has been chosen by Carnegie Hall as one of 89 young musicians selected from across the country for NYO2, an intensive summer orchestral training program for outstanding American instrumentalists, ages 14–17. NYO2 will play at Carnegie Hall on uly 27 and will debut as a resident orchestra at the Edinburgh International Festival.
Madison Holman-Rodriguez has been named to the initial 18-athlete U-15 roster for the USA Flag Football Junior National Team, which will compete for the opportunity to represent the United States in international competition in July at the Junior International Cup in Los Angeles, where Flag Football will make its Olympic debut in 2028.

Bennett Schenker, Graham Cook, Jack Ardini, Julius Divine, Logan Hill, Max Nieves, Quinn Slater, Sami Salim, Taroko Cromwell, Vico Zakak and Wilson Busch are members of the Newton 4th-grade travel basketball team 4th Black — which became the Metrowest Travel Basketball Champions in the Division 1, 4th grade boys league, defeating Milton 37-34 on March 16. The team then won the New England State Tournament, beating undefeated E. Greenwich, RI in the semifinals and Warwick, RI in the finals.
Christopher Player, who teaches science at the Winsor School, has been chosen as one of the composers for The Measure of Work: Sounds of Labor in Lowell — a project by the Lowell National Historic Park. He is currently composing this work and has recorded sounds from the mill machines and more to incorporate into the music. Compositions will be played at the museum as part of exhibits.
Allie Baskakova and Ria Vartak were members of a middle-school math team that placed third in the Mustang Math Tournament, which focuses on teamwork and collaboration.
