Juliana Pasquarosa, of West Newton, wins “The Bachelor”

Juliana Pasquarosa, born and raised in West Newton, has won “The Bachelor.” On the 29th season of the ABC reality TV show, Pasquarosa was one of 25 women vying for an engagement to the “Bachelor,” Grant Ellis. After weeks of elimination rounds, the 28-year-old Pasquarosa ultimately won the affections of Ellis, and they are currently engaged. (See earlier Fig City News article.)

In the three-hour final episode of the show on March 24, Paquarosa was joined by her parents, Carl and Donna Pasquarosa, watching the final moments of her Bachelor journey, where Ellis decided between an engagement with Pasquarosa or the other finalist, Litia Garr. Pasquarosa thanked her family for the support they provided her all along the way.

Pasquarosa and Ellis revealed that they will be settling down in Boston. But first, The Bachelor show is sending them on a celebration trip to Italy.

Before the finale, Pasquarosa’s older sister, Dominique Vachon, told Fig City News, “She’s gotten this far because she’s remained true to herself. She has been doing so amazing, just speaking so well for herself.”

Vachon signed her sister up for The Bachelor without Pasquarosa’s knowledge. “One night we were just sitting there, and [The Bachelor casting] came on the commercial break. ‘Do you know somebody?’ And I filled out the form while she was sitting there, and she had no idea,” Vachon said.

As fans of the show’s prior seasons, the sisters would gather with their friends on Monday nights wearing red sweatsuits to drink wine and watch “The Bachelor.” Vachon said they call this group the “Monday Crew.”

Since Pasquarosa’s role on the show, Vachon has been with her sister every Monday night to provide emotional support. Vachon said Pasquarosa’s sudden and rapid fame has required an adjustment, now that Pasquarosa is getting noticed in public. In the finale, Pasquarosa admitted that for fun, she participated in social media speculation about the winner. “Life is just too serious to take seriously,” she said.

Pasquarosa works at her sister’s salon on Watertown Street in Nonantum as social media manager. The salon is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month.

Helping Pasquarosa find outfits to wear on the show became an outlet for the sisters to honor their grandmother. “We found the perfect purple dress. […] Purple was our Nonna’s favorite color. We always try to pop something like that into a little bit of everything, because it reminds us of her,” said Vachon.

The sisters plan to release a leisure wear clothing line, Nice Girls Label, in April, according to Vachon.
