The Traffic Council approved the following (read the report and watch the meeting video):
- Parking Regulation on Elm Street (5-0) Parking to be prohibited all day from a point 90 feet south of Webster Street to River Street on the east side and a bus stop to be moved closer to River Street. Public comments also requested increased police enforcement. Police said they would focus on illegally parked cars and review the area’s safety.
- Update to Traffic and Parking Regulations on the Northbound side of Albemarle Road (5-0) Approved updates to reflect existing parking regulations, including the location of accessible parking spaces.
- Stop Sign Additions (5-0) Approved the addition of stop signs at three T intersections near Williams School to increase school safety:
- Lasell Street at Hancock Street
- Fern Street at Hancock Street (yield sign will be removed).
- Williston Road at Hancock Street
All approved items can be appealed through the close of business January 8, 2025.
The Traffic Council voted to hold the following:
- Special Speed Regulation on Beacon Street (5-0) A request to rescind the 35 MPH speed regulation on Beacon Street from Chestnut to the entrance of Cold Spring Park. Newton is waiting to hear back from MassDOT.
- David Koses was elected as Traffic Council Chair through December 31, 2025 (5-0)
