- Authorization to Appropriate and Expend $2,000,000 to Newton Public Schools
to fund a new math curriculum across the district. This initiative aims to update a curriculum not reviewed in 20 years, enhancing educational consistency across schools. The curriculum complies with DESE standards, will be reviewed every six to eight years, and will address disparities between schools. (8-0) - Authorization to Appropriate and Expend $300,000 to Newton Public Schools
for upgrading phone systems at Newton North and South High Schools to VoIP systems, continuing updates across the district. (8-0) - Reappointment of Despina Felis to the Biosafety Committee

- Discussion of Aging in Newton: A Community Needs Assessment
The report by UMass Boston highlighted the changing needs of the aging population in Newton. Initiatives discussed include using the data to inform City departments and planning future programs that cater specifically to older adults’ needs. The Director of Older Adult Services noted GoGo Newton, the senior ride service, is being evaluated, and changes will be coming soon. (8-0)
