Finance Committee approved the following (see report and watch the meeting video):
- Appointment of JP Nahmias to the Financial Audit Advisory Committee: (7-0)
- Acceptance and Expenditure of a $53,015.90 Grant: A grant from Massachusetts’ Executive Office of Public Safety & Security was approved for use in funding traffic safety enforcement and related safety activities. Acting Police Chief George McMains noted the grant, while lower than usual due to increased applicants, was part of an annual support the City had received for 5-10 years.
- Expenditure of $29,056.47 for RRFB Pedestrian Signal: (7-0) from the Trio development mitigation fund for a new rapid flashing beacon pedestrian signal at the crosswalk across Lowell Avenue at Page Road.
- Authorization to Accept and Expend a $50,000 Grant: (7-0) to develop a Wage and Classification Plan for the city aimed at ensuring equitable compensation. The plan only covers non-union positions and should be completed in a year and a half. The grant will not cover the full cost. The Human Resources Department will cover the remaining anticipated expenses of $30,000 to $50,000.
- Acquisition of Christina Street Bridge Land: (7-0) to acquire land for access to a new shared-use path bridge over the Charles River. The land acquisition from the Price Center was agreed at $430,000, negotiated down from a significant appraisal disparity.
- Appropriation of $17,500 in CPA Funding: (7-0) for Phase II of the Midcentury Architectural Survey, which aims to catalog approximately 140 historical properties constructed between 1940 and 1975. The survey will help inform the Historic Commission’s preservation work.
- Reappointment of Antonio Bianchi as a Constable: (7-0)
