[Public Notice] NPS offers meals at no cost for all students

On September 9, Newton Public Schools (NPS) announced in a Public Notice that for the school year 2024-2025, all students may receive one free breakfast and lunch each day at school.

NPS participates in the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program. As part of this program, the district offers healthy meals every school day at every school, and the schools, Lincoln Eliot and Education Center, will be implemented under the Community Eligibility Provision.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has provided funding for universally free meals through the state budget. However, even though first meals are free, school districts are still required to provide students with information on how to apply for free and reduced-price meals for consideration for other state programs, such as Summer EBT. See the Public Notice for details.
