Nogrady: Bill Humphrey for 12th Middlesex State Representative

I’m writing to support Bill Humphrey for State Representative in the 12th Middlesex District in Newton and Brookline. Bill has been an effective and committed City Councilor in Newton, and I believe he is ready to move to the state level.

I first met Bill in 2004 when he was an 8th grader in my U.S. History and civics class at Brown Middle School in Newton. He proved to be a passionate student of government, interested in the foundational values of our country, as well as the nuts and bolts of the political process. He was especially engaged in the presidential election that year.

Since then, Bill has deepened his understanding of government and the political process. I’ve been most impressed with his commitment to grassroots campaigning. He knocks on doors and engages with citizens on front porches. He’s interested in what we think. He is a true listener, and listens more than he talks.

I’m proud of Bill’s dedication to education and educators. During the recent NTA strike he stood up for Newton teachers, bravely supporting them when the other elected officials would not hear their concerns or explain them to the public. Bill has been endorsed by the NTA as well as several other unions including SEIU and Mass Nurses Association.

Please join me in voting for Bill in the primary election on September 3.
