Amy Sangiolo has our vote for State Representative. She was one of the founders of the highly successful Fig City News online news site, restoring vital local journalism to Newton. She first started the site as a newsletter in 2015, to provide easy-to-find information about the Newton City Council’s work and how members voted. Local news coverage was already in decline, and the city’s website was difficult to navigate. After she retired from the Council, Amy continued the newsletter, then went on to co-found Fig City News. Amy’s dedication to transparency and accountability in government, and the needs and interests of communities, will make her an effective State Representative. Amy’s 20-plus years of experience as a public servant will be an asset to the Statehouse. We wholeheartedly endorse Amy Mah Sangiolo for State Representative.
