Historic Newton is hosting a walking tour — Founding Newtonians in East Parish Burying Ground — where participants will visit the grave sites of some of Newton’s early settlers and the location of the 1630s meetinghouse, as well as learn about the indigenous Massachusett people, and learn about enslaved and free Black Newtonians. It will take around one hour, cover one-half to one mile, and sturdy shoes and a water bottle are recommended. Please note that the terrain will be unpaved and uneven. The tour will take place on Sunday, September 15, 2-3PM at East Parish Burying Ground (855 Centre Street, Newton Corner). Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for members, and free for kids 12 and under. The exact meeting location for each walking tour will be shared after buying tickets.
