The rain held off, and the crowds came to Albemarle Field for the July 4th celebration hosted by Newton Parks, Recreation & Culture. Music was provided by Kat Chapman with Chris Leadbetter followed by East Coast Soul on the main stage, and Bay Colony Brass and the City Hall Strummers in the gazebo. Between the carnival and the open-air market, various civic and political groups welcomed visitors to their booths. Oh, yes, and the fireworks!
