The West Newton Cinema Foundation invites the public to the first meeting of Ty Burr’s Movie Club on July 11, 6PM-10PM at West Newton Cinema (1296 Washington Street, West Newton).
Each month, Ty Burr, former film critic and cultural columnist at The Boston Globe and Pulitzer Prize finalist, will host a screening of one of his favorite movies, followed by a group discussion.
For the inaugural meeting of the Movie Club, the West Newton Cinema will show the director’s cut of Cinema Paradiso, a film celebrating the magic of the movies and cinema’s enduring power to create community. Originally released in the United States in 1990, Cinema Paradiso won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. The director’s cut, released in 2002, brings this cherished classic back to the silver screen — with a twist!
Join Ty for a wonderful film and interesting conversation! Your participation supports the WNCF’s efforts to preserve this beloved local theater.
The screening begins at 6PM, with discussion immediately following. Tickets can be purchased online,
