Newton people in the news…

Tess DeJesus, a graduate of Newton North High School, has been selected by the Charles River Regional Chamber to receive one of four scholarships awarded this year to students in the Chamber’s four communities who are continuing their education in accredited programs. DeJesus was selected in part for her skill and experience in community building. She will attend Merrimack College in the fall with plans to major in Elementary Education and Human Development.

Sarina Steinmetz, Sales Vice President with William Raveis in Newton Centre, has been honored by RealTrends Verified as one of the top 1.5% real estate agents and professionals in the U.S. for 2023. A William Raveis colleague attributes her success to her experience, market knowledge, innovative marketing, and dedication to clients.

Jorge Soto has been named Music Director of the 75-member New Philharmonia Orchestra. He has been its Principal Conductor since 2020. A violinist born and trained in Venezuela and at the New England Conservatory, he is also Principal Conductor of the United Nations Festival Orchestra for Hope and collaborates frequently with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
