I am responding to Rhoda Grill’s letter of June 4 in which she states that only one person she
spoke with at eight Newton churches agreed to have the church display a “Stand against
Antisemitism” lawn sign on its property. Good for that standout church. As Grill writes,
“churches have a unique opportunity to express their solidarity with Jews.” I wonder whether
the other seven will come forward.
This is a challenging time. Political language and feelings are subject to inflammation. The
institutions in our community can help by actively supporting the call against hatred and
misunderstanding of all groups, including our Jewish neighbors.
