Public Facilities – 3/6/24 Report

Public Facilities voted to hold the following (see Report and watch NewTV video). According to the report, the discussion covered:

  • Updates on Border Street: Ongoing concerns regarding flooding were addressed, with discussions on a preliminary study, potential engineering solutions, and the application for a grant for a hydraulic model study of the Cheesecake Brook sub-basin. (7-0)
  • Update on plans and projects for the Stormwater System in Newton: Included a presentation on the stormwater budget, operations, recent and upcoming projects, NPDES and MS4 permits, the Phosphorus Control plan, and the Stormwater Ordinance and Rules and Regulations. (7-0)
  • Discussion regarding the condition of Edmands Park: Focused on the stormwater infrastructure condition, responsibilities of city departments, flooding issues, and potential improvements to reduce phosphorus in accordance with MS4 Permit requirements. (7-0)
