Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra: Emmy Award-winning composer and conductor Jeff Beal, Apr. 7

Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra will present The Unbroken Circle on Sunday, April 7 at 3PM at The Second Church in Newton (60 Highland Street, West Newton). Tickets are available online.

Emmy-winning composer Jeff Beal will lead Pro Arte in a wide-ranging concert featuring his own works and Boston Symphony Orchestra hornist Michael Winter.

  • Jeff Beal Overture to Pollock. Known for writing soundtracks to numerous films and television series, including House of Cards, Beal opens the concert with his sparkling Pollock Overture, from the 2000 film directed by and starring Ed Harris.
  • Richard Strauss Horn Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major, op. 11 featuring hornist Michael Winter
  • Beal The Great Circle. Beal’s suite The Great Circle, a response to California’s tragic wildfires and mudslides in 2017–18, depicts nature’s elements—earth, air, fire, water—and their cyclic power to destroy and renew.
  • Ottorino Respighi Gli Uccelli (The Birds). Ottorino Respighi composed several suites based on music from earlier centuries.  His enchanting Gli uccelli (The Birds) presents orchestral arrangements of Baroque harpsichord pieces inspired by birds.
