Recent honors, appointments, and arrivals for people who live or work in Newton…

  • Janet Goff has been named the Executive Director of the Harvard Musical Association — the first in its 186-year history. Her career has focused on music, museums, and the performing arts, including an eleven-year tenure creating special events at New England Conservatory.
  • In a first for Newton North High School, its students Aaditya Aryan, Jin Greene, Finn Groshek, Rishi Muni, Atley Sherman, Ellis Sherman, and Simon Vardeh participated in Wharton School’s Global Investment Competition, and their team was one of 50 out of more than 1,600 to advance to the semi-finals.
  • Grace Cai, a senior at Newton South High School, has been very involved in Lunar New Year activities this year. As principal dulcimer player of Boston Chinese Musician Association’s Eastern and Western Mixed Orchestra, she performed at both Boston City Hall and Newton Free Library Lunar New Year Celebrations. She was also one of the student speakers advocating for the Lunar New Year holiday at a recent School Committee meeting.
  • Elizabeth M. Cosgrove, Matthew R. Fallon, Ioanna H. Tembelopoulos, and Samuel F. Woodward have received Dean’s List Honors at Fairfield University for the Fall 2023 semester.  
  • Sawyer Cohen and Marisa MacDonald were named to the Dean’s List at the College of William & Mary for the fall 2023 semester.
  • Chris Mackey has joined The Bullfinch Group as a Financial Representative. At Amherst College he majored in U.S. History, played football, managed the ski club, and was actively involved in the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
