Newton Area Flag Football will be sending two teams — 8U and 10U — to compete in the NFL Flag National Championships in Orlando, FL, February 1-3. To qualify for Championship tournament, the Newton Elite tournament teams won the Patriots NFL Flag Regional in November among teams in the New England region. In Orlando they will face other regional winners from across the nation. The teams will have 3 pool play games on February 2 before playoffs begin for the National Championship game on February 3.
Under its new name (Metro Boston Sports Foundation), this nonprofit is seeking tax-deductible donations for three purposes:
- Helping to offset costs for the team to travel to the National Championships
- Developing Taylor Field at Lasell University as a permanent home for Newton Area Flag Football
- Providing need-based scholarships for players
