Requests for Special Permit/Site Plan Approval for:

  • A 2-Year Extension of Time to exercise a previously approved special permit/site plan review for 1314 Washington Street, and 31, 33 Davis Street. According to the report, Mark Development was waiting on the Village Center rezoning vote and West Newton Cinema. West Newton Cinema has until August 2024 to repurchase the cinema. Needs time to redesign the project. The Committee voted to approve 7-0.
  • To further extend a nonconforming 3-story single-family dwelling and add a third-story living space at 146 Oliver Road. According to the report, the abutters support project. The Committee voted 7-0. See Special Permit documents and Draft Council Order.
  • To further extend a nonconforming 3.5 story single-family dwelling and construct an attached garage with two stories of living space at 255 Jackson Street. The Committee voted to approve 7-0. See Special Permit documents and Draft Council Order.
  • To extend a nonconforming side setback for a detached garage at 75 Royce Road. According to the report, the revised plan is supported by neighbors. The Committee voted 6-0-1, Councilor Laredo recused. See Special Permit documents and Draft Council Order.
  • To further extend nonconforming FAR at 286 Highland Avenue. The Committee voted to approve 7-0. See Special Permit documents and Draft Council Order.
  • To allow four single-family attached dwellings, to waive lot area and lot area per unit requirements and to allow a driveway and parking within setback distances at 2202 Commonwealth Avenue. The plan was revised to eliminate attic floor living space to reduce the bulk of the building. The developer will be contributing $50,000 to Newton Housing Authority. See Special Permit documents and Draft Council Order.
