Ward 7 Councilor and City Council President Emeritus Lisle Baker was invited to give remarks at this year’s Veterans Day ceremony at American Legion Post 440. Baker was on active duty training at Parris Island, SC and Camp Lejeune, NC in 1964-1965 and then was on part-time reserve duty with the 47th Rifle Company in Louisville until he went to law school, where he completed his reserve commitment. Though he does not qualify for veteran benefits and does not claim to be a veteran, he is a former Marine. During his speech (text, NewTV video), he highlighted three examples of what veterans and those who serve, represent — respect, teamwork, and values.
