I have known David Micley all his life. Growing up he was deeply involved in our synagogue and we worked together at the Combined Jewish Philanthropies. David was an amazing part of our staff, a creative leader among his colleagues and a real leader in the community. He was driven by a deep love for community, he understands how communities work and how to make them successful, improving the quality of life and providing meaning and purpose for their members.
In addition to having a vision for community David always knew how to “get the job done” with an amazing capacity to overcome obstacles and create compromises by building coalitions to make programs work…exactly the skills needed for a successful City Council member.
At a time of rising antisemitism David understands the needs of the Jewish community for security and the importance of securing support from and having strong relationships with local authorities especially the Newton Police. His understanding of the needs of his own community provides important insights into the needs of all the communities of our diverse City.
There’s never been a more important time to elect a person who understands community and the need for a common vision built on mutual understanding and tolerance. There’s never been a more qualified community builder than David Micley.
