The Public Facilities Committee voted to approve the following (see Report and watch NewTV video):
- Petition for the extension of the City’s water main and easement from Washington Street connecting to the existing main in Dustan Street – Dunstan East. According to the report, the Petitioner apologized for withholding information related to the sale of the Dunstan East Project to Garden Homes. Eli Pechhold from Garden Homes reported to the committee that the plan is to close the deal by December with construction expected to begin in early January and take 3 years until occupancy. The Committee approved the item as amended (to include the word “easement” 5-0.
- Request from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority to install and maintain a water main in Commonwealth Avenue, Grafton Street, Centre Street, Ward Street and Waverly Avenue. According to the report, the project will put in an interconnection to strengthen this area of the city’s water system. MWRA will repave with concrete panels half of Center St with the new pipes. The MWRA and the City are coordinating construction with Temple Emanuel. The project should take 30 months. There were no public comments. The Committee voted to approve 5-0.
