Bay Colony Brass (BCB), a twenty-member brass and percussion ensemble based in West Newton, will present a free concert celebrating military veterans in the main sanctuary of First Unitarian Universalist Society in Newton (1326 Washington Street, West Newton) on Saturday, November 11, at 7:30PM. (Ed Note: The location was changed from Second Church due to a problem with a heating system.)
The concert includes music appropriate for the day, including John Williams’ “Hymn for the Fallen” from Saving Private Ryan and Charles Ives’ Variations on “America.” Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller will join BCB and local veterans to read letters written by veterans from the Civil War. The concert concludes with Alfred Reed’s brilliant “Symphony for Brass and Percussion.”
Bay Colony Brass will also present a holiday concert on December 16.
