Story Starters is a nonprofit that uses children’s literature to give families the tools and support to talk about race and racism and to engage in family-centered social justice conversations and actions. It helps families develop active family identities around racial equity and community change, and research reveals that its program decreases racial bias in the kids enrolled and increases parents’ comfort and skill in discussing race with their children.
Story Starters will offer a FREE event on Saturday, October 28 at 10AM, featuring a read-aloud and group art project, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church (258 Concord Street, Newton Lower Falls). This event is geared toward families with children ages 3-8 (siblings welcome!)
