As a longstanding community member of Newton, I enthusiastically endorse Dan Gaynor for Newton City Council, Ward 2.
Gaynor was born, raised, and still lives on Cabot Street – and has a vision tailored to the community that he would serve. He is focused on ensuring that Newton remains an ideal place to live for all ages, while preserving green spaces and historic neighborhoods.
With the new MBTA Communities Act requiring Newton to zone for more housing, Gaynor believes we need to hold developers accountable and protect our priorities. We must preserve the green space in “the Garden City” , while also offering a greater diversity of options for families at every phase of life. That means fighting for smoother roads, wider sidewalks, and community engagement in every part of the planning process.
In addition, Gaynor’s commitment to environmental sustainability is evident through his involvement in Green Newton and Friends of Edmands Park, as well as his work on sustainability initiatives throughout his career. A frequent biker and walker, Gaynor advocates for rapidly repairing our roads, promoting renewable energy, and protecting our environment. He’s regularly spoken out about the need to care for community gems like Bullough’s Pond and Cheesecake Brook, and on the heels of a rainy summer, has a plan to fight increasing flooding.
Dan Gaynor’s deep roots in Newton and his pragmatic, data-driven approach make him the ideal candidate for City Council. With a background in the Obama-Biden Administration and as a local small business owner, Gaynor will ensure a brighter future for Newton.
Consider that a vote for Dan Gaynor will translate to pro-active positivity for Newton.
