Randy Block will be an exceptional advocate for Ward 4. This is one of the many reasons Chris Markiewicz has endorsed Randy to be his successor. Randy is committed to hearing from all sides. More importantly, he doesn’t presume to know more than his neighbors and colleagues. This alone will make him an asset on a council that has become divided.
By way of example, when the development at Riverside was proposed, he gathered his neighbors together to hear their opinions. After learning that affordable housing was a universal concern, he came up with the idea of insisting that 60% of the development be dedicated to housing. And that’s what happened. So despite what you may have heard about him, Randy is committed to making our city more affordable and came up with a creative way to accomplish it. He also cares about what makes neighborhoods livable. So in addition to advocating for housing at Riverside, he pushed for more open space, sufficient supportive retail, fire safety, adequate stormwater controls, and safe noise and light levels.
In sum, a vote for Randy is a vote for fact-based yet passionate leadership that looks to build on Newton’s strengths. Please vote for him on November 7 – he will represent you and work tirelessly to find the best way to move our city forward.
