As a longtime Newton educator, now retired, I strongly support David Micley for the Ward 2 Ward City Council seat, along with many NPS retired and active educators who reside in Ward 2.
David listens well and is an independent thinker. He will be able to work effectively with all councilors on the wide variety of issues it must address.
David believes, as I do, that the city should move forward with development and an increase in housing units. At the same time, he believes the city needs to keep a close eye on the effect development will have on the city’s strained infrastructure as we move into the future. David wants to develop Newton with care and oversight. At this point, there are no plans in place to monitor infrastructure as the city grows: road and traffic conditions, school enrollment and staffing, open spaces and parks, etc.
David has been a strong Newton Public Schools advocate from Day 1 of his campaign and he is ready and willing to be a leader in seeking additional funding for NPS. Right now, the school system is in serious need of increased staffing to address the growing student mental health issues and large class sizes. David will join those councilors who also understand the serious issues facing Newton’s schools in advocating for school funding.
David is that upbeat, positive presence we need on the City Council right now. He has a can-do attitude to problem solving and looks forward to providing constituent services. Yes – David Micley thinks fixing potholes is important!
For a Ward Councilor who will listen and respond to your concerns, please vote for David Micley for Ward 2 City Council on or before November 7th.
