Feast & Fettle delivers freshly made meals — a varying selection of entrees, vegetables, soups and salads, and baked goods – to about 8,000 families in New England. After starting seven years ago in Rhode Island, the company expanded its delivery service into Massachusetts, and on October 11, it opened its second brick-and-mortar store — its first in Massachusetts — at 811 Washington Street in Newtonville. Many current delivery customers have stopped by the store, and on opening day, 12 new households signed up for delivery service.
The F&F Fridge store is open seven days a week, 8AM-8PM, and its menus are available online.
Rebecca Brady, Director of New Concepts for Feast & Fettle, said that the company’s goal is to provide fresh homestyle meals featuring healthy comfort foods, giving busy people more time in their days and taking stress out of their lives. As an example of its commitment to healthy meals, Ms. Brady described a recent shift to avocado oil as the primary cooking oil. Striving to provide healthy meals, the company states that it uses organic products when available and avoids all preservatives, artificial dyes and flavorings, and GMO. The company’s strategy relies on an integrated organization, with staff performing all preparation, cooking, packing, and delivery.
Deliveries go to homes or workplaces and arrive in insulated bags with commercial-grade ice packs, which are returned and reused. Customers choose a delivery day, from Sunday through Thursday each week. All meals are prepared and cooked at Feast & Fettle’s East Providence, Rhode Island kitchen. The new Washington Street, Newtonville, location is an option for customers who wish to select meals and bring them home immediately.
Feast & Fettle is partnering with the Newton Food Pantry and the Newton Community Freedge to distribute unsold meals from its Newton location. The company also works with TerraCycle, a firm that recycles all food containers, according to Ms. Brady.
