Clancy: Stop pretending that Elmwood Park is a park

I have lived on Elmwood Park for over 30 years. For 9 of those years, the park has been used as a dumping ground for various huge pieces of machinery or mounds of snow piled so high I couldn’t see the house across the street. I’ve made complaints to City Hall and their response was, “We understand your frustration but it’s only until October…. (That’s just this latest barrage of equipment, which started in May.)

I wonder how Newton can be called the “Garden City” when they obviously don’t care about rolling these trucks over the grass and littering the street with a row of heavy equipment. This park was used by many families who would walk their pets or toss a ball with their kids. I haven’t seen a parent or kid since May.

I can’t invite anyone over to my home because there would be no place for them to park their car. I wasn’t paying attention when I backed into one of these huge trucks, which resulted in my paying
$2,000 out of pocket to repair my car.

I suggest the City pave Elmwood Park and rename it after the Feeney Brothers. Stop pretending that it is a park for families to enjoy.
