I am running for Ward 6 Ward Councilor because I love and I am deeply committed to our Ward 6 villages and neighborhoods. I care about the stop signs and potholes and playgrounds in our neighborhoods and would ensure they are repaired and maintained. The small businesses that make up our village centers are the lifeblood of our community, and I would work tirelessly to support them.
As a co-founder and board member of Newton Neighbors, and recent co-president of the Mason-Rice PTO, and in my work with many other Newton organizations and initiatives, I’ve seen the generosity, creativity, and energy of people in Newton and the challenges people face everyday. That’s why I’m running for City Council — to bring those voices, and that perspective, into our city government.
I want to make sure Newton works for everyone. This means creating truly inclusive and accessible public spaces, providing translations for key city resources, and putting into action our values as a welcoming and caring community.
We have some big questions as a city right now, but so much of our everyday success is determined by the immediate issues in front of us: making roads safe for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers; maintaining and restoring the ecosystem at Cold Spring Park and ensuring Crystal Lake is swimmable and accessible for generations to come; investing in our schools, our fields, our playgrounds, our small businesses; advocating for the reliability and safety of the 59 and 52 bus lines, and the Green Line, and the aqueduct paths that connect us.
We can make a difference on big issues when we work together, in our community and as a community.
I would be so grateful for your vote on November 7th (or early, or by mail.) Thank you!
