I first met Doris Ann in 2008 when she was helping to advocate for the Auburndale Community Library to stay open. Doris Ann has also assisted residents struggling to pay rent and medical bills, by co-managing the United Parish of Auburndale’s charitable fund.
Doris Ann is a measured, can-do community leader who prioritizes making Auburndale and Newton more sustainable and accessible. For example, her website emphasizes “Electrifying new homes, insulating and retrofitting older ones, installing solar on new and existing buildings, and better access to EV sharing are all critical measures that can be done at the local level here in Newton.”
Doris Ann’s career as a university reference librarian has shaped her mindset for finding information, listening to manyviewpoints, and considering varied aspects of complicated issues. Doris Ann is also moved by the plight of municipal employees, seniors, and young adults who cannot afford exorbitant prices for homes.
I am inspired that Doris Ann endorses proposals to site more housing near commuter rail stops. Doris Ann will never advocate for high rises in our village centers, but she does not shy from the imperative that we must do our part to meet the need.
Doris Ann is a collaborator, thinker, leader (and very kind, generous person) who will excel at constituent services – she knows Auburndale and Newton so very well. She will also encourage new vibrancy, as well as preservation of the very special feeling that is Auburndale. Doris Ann will be both a steward and a champion of all that is lovely – and all that is possible – in our beautiful community.
With sincere regards,
