Public Comment Process: You may offer public comment either in person or virtually during the public comment portion of the meeting. To participate, please do the following:
- In-person: You may attend the meeting in-person and sign in for public comment on the sign-up sheet stating your NAME, ADDRESS and TOPIC. Per School Committee policy, you will have 3 minutes in which to offer your comments.
- Virtually: If you wish to offer public comment virtually, please submit your NAME, ADDRESS and TOPIC by email with the subject line: “Public Comment for [DATE]” to schoolcommittee@newton.k12.ma.us at least 30 minutes PRIOR to the official start time of the meeting. Join the virtual meeting by computer or phone via Zoom link or phone number 1-646-558-8656. When the School Committee chairperson calls your name, you will be permitted to unmute your microphone and turn on your video. You will have 3 minutes to deliver your comments.
- Public Comment is not a discussion, debate, or dialogue between citizens and the SC. It is a citizen’s opportunity to express their opinion on issues of School Committee business.
- Public Comment shall be for a period of 30 minutes. Written comments longer than 3 minutes may be presented to the Committee before or after the meeting for the Committee members’ review and consideration at an appropriate time.
