Board and Commission Meetings – Week of 7/30/2023

Zoning Board of Appeals will meet in person (Council Chamber) and virtually (Zoom link) on Monday, July 31 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following:

  • Request for a Comprehensive Permit pursuant to M.G.L. Chapter 40B, to construct a nine-story mixed-use development with 410 residential units (103 affordable units and 486 parking stalls) and approximately 10,689 square feet of ground floor commercial space on 6.98 acres of land located at 160 Charlemont Street and 56 Christina Street (see Permit documents , 7/31 Presentation, Planning Memo).
  • Request for a variance from Section 3.1.3 and 3.4.3B of the Newton Zoning Ordinance to reduce the rear setback requirement to 9 feet for an accessory structure (an 800-sq.ft. sports court was constructed in the rear of the property without a permit) at 564 Dedham Street.

  • Review and discussion of violation of the Historic District Ordinance for work done to install a shed that was not granted a Certificate of Appropriateness at 203-205 Walnut Street, Unit 203.
  • Request for Certificate of Appropriateness to remediate work to install a shed and remediate the violation at 203-205 Walnut Street, Unit 203.
  • Request for Certificate of Appropriateness to remediate work done on the main house exceeding the scope of the previously granted Certificate of Appropriateness at 34 Prescott Street, Main House.
