Ding’s Kitchen in Newton Centre closed for sanitary code violations [Updated]

[Update: Ding’s Kitchen has reopened]

The Newton Health and Human Services Department on Monday revoked the food service permit for Ding’s Kitchen, at 10 Langley Road in Newton Centre, due to “serious and repeated violations” of the state’s sanitary standards for food establishments. The department’s notice, issued on Monday, states that the closure will be for six months starting May 22.

A notice posted by the restaurant on its front door stated: “Dear Customer, Due to internal equipment maintenance in our restaurant. The business will be closed from Monday, 5/22/2023. Upon completion of the renovation, the business will reopen.” An employee who declined further comment indicated that he expected the restaurant might open as soon as this weekend.

Customers arriving this evening, unaware of this closure, told Fig City News that the restaurant is popular due to its unique “mild hotpot” offerings. The restaurant does not take reservations, and often there are lines of customers waiting to enter.

The City issued this inspection report enumerating the violations and the following notice was posted on the establishment’s door:

Based on serious and repeated violations of 105 CMR 590.000: State Sanitary Code Chapter X – Minimum Sanitation Standards for Food Establishments set forth by the State of Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and in accordance with 105 CMR 590.014(C), the Newton Health and Human Services Department has revoked the food establishment permit for Ding’s Kitchen for six (6) months starting Monday, May 22, 2023.
