Newton’s Carroll Center for the Blind, one of the largest vision rehabilitation agencies in the nation, will host its 11th Annual Walk for Independence on Saturday, June 3, 8AM-Noon. It’s a family-friendly event bringing together both sighted and visually impaired individuals to support the nonprofit organization’s mission. Walkers can choose either a one-, two- or three-mile stroll around the Mount Ida Campus of UMass Amherst (100 Carlson Avenue) and stay for complimentary food, music, accessible games and fun giveaways. Guide dogs and family pets on leashes are welcome. Individuals and teams can register here.
