The Newton North High School Girls Volleyball team finished their 2022 season as MIAA Division 1 Massachusetts Champions, after winning 19 of 20 games and losing only 11 sets in the regular season.
The team was honored at this week’s City Council meeting with a Testimonial Commendation stating:
- “After reaching the state finals last season, the team was on a mission to take the next step and lift the trophy for a state title.”
- “[The team] showed true character during the tournament run and how they handled the pressure they put on themselves was truly special.”
- “[The team] played inspired, connected, with heart, and skill, all season and especially in the championship game. The poise they showed after losing the second set was a testament to how incredible a team and season they had. They bounced back with the tenacity of a champion.”
Completing his second season coaching the team, Coach Nile Fox said, “This season was a very special season because of the hard work our student athletes did in the off season and regular season. After we went to the finals and lost in 2021, the girls made it their mission to make it back to the finals and win.”
