Newton LoveFEST
Newton’s small, independently owned, brick-and-mortar businesses have special offers for Valentine’s Day. They have been weathering challenges of Covid, inflation, labor shortages, and online competition. o help spur sales, many are participating in a week-long Newton LoveFEST. “The goal of LoveFEST is to increase local dollars flowing into Newton’s small, independent businesses, ensuring they keep their lights on and doors open,” said Lauren Berman of ALL Over Newton, organizer of the event. The LoveFEST web page has shops and specials from across the city. “And if your favorite shop isn’t listed, just add it in the Comments on that page,” Berman said. “Our goal is to shower small businesses all over Newton with love this week, helping create and ingrain shop-local habits that extend all year long.”
Love Local: Support Our Restaurants
The Charles River Regional Chamber’s Dining Collaborative is launching its second annual campaign to support our restaurant community, highlighting the many ways to “Love Local” all month long – not just on Valentine’s Day. Check their directory of 120 dining establishments in Newton.
Love Local: Clothing Drive
In parallel with its dining campaign, Charles River Regional Chamber’s Dining Collaborative is organizing a month-long clothing drive to benefit Circle of Hope, a Needham-based nonprofit that provides homeless children, women, and men in Boston and Metro West with clothing and necessities. Drop off — at any of these restaurant locations — NEW sweatshirts, sweatpants, t-shirts and other items for cold winter months. Or make an online donation to the campaign here.
