Historic Newton and the Newton Free Library will host a presentation by Stephen Whitfield, Brandeis Professor of American Studies (emeritus), speaking about the work of a striking group of mostly white, Jewish, male attorneys — including Barney Frank — who mounted a campaign against the Jim Crow laws in the South in the 1960s.
