I have been lucky to live in Newton for 18 years thus far and have enjoyed the many resources and attractions that the city has to offer! Different aspects of Newton have been important to me as I have lived here, including the schools and colleges, the library, the civic life, healthcare, shops and restaurants to name a few. I know I want to continue living in Newton, and so I cannot help but reflect on what will Newton have to offer in the future. One very promising development is that of a new senior center! Today approximately one in five (17%) adults in Newton are 65 years or older (source); thus, it is abundantly clear that this is an important niche of the Newton community now and moving forward! Since one of the overrides will provide funds for programming, including programming for Senior services, I wholeheartedly support this override. However, I am also supportive of the two other overrides which are for school infrastructure, even though neither I, nor any of my family members, will be direct user of these schools. I am supportive of all of the infrastructure overrides because in the future, these will represent important resources for Newton. Ultimately, I look at all three overrides as supporting the future of Newton, just as how people in the past put in money and resources so that today’s Newton is as amazing as it is!
