Newton Citizens Commission on Energy will meet in-person (City Hall, Room 205) and virtually (Zoom link) on Wednesday, December 21 at 7:30PM. The agenda includes the following:

  • Continuation of work on a strategic plan for the residential sector.
    • How to augment, refine and use the map of residential properties where the owners are more likely to implement retrofits.
    • How to get current data on installed heat pump heating systems and central AC?
    • Summary of Liora’s activities and plans for the residential sector (if ready).
    • How to use the data in electrical permit applications in the Inspectional Services Department files?
    • Stickers for lawn signs have been ordered. We need to decide how to reach out to the homeowners who have done the work on the 4 Our Future projects and could display them.
    • Census of the energy status of homes is an attractive idea. If it is successful, it will be the first step to introducing homeowners to the idea of an Energy Passport for their homes, which records actions taken and actions planned. There are outstanding questions to discuss, including the message to homeowners and the census questionnaire.
    • Progress with reaching out to heat pump and insulation contractors to put lawn signs while they work, similar to other home contractors.
  • Progress with contacting the real estate agent community
