The 9th annual Newton Turkey Trot — a USATF certified 5K race, plus a 1-mile fun run — will be held on November 19 at Zervas Elementary School (30 Beethoven Avenue). The fun run (8:30AM) is sold out, but registration for the 5K (9AM) is open.
This year’s event honors the memory of Tim O’Brien — a wonderful father, husband, friend, youth coach, runner, and a founding member of the Turkey Trot, who passed away just after the event last year. Following Tim’s example, the Turkey Trot continues to focus youth’s attention on wellness, health, and community service. Proceeds from the event support the Newton Food Pantry and Journey Forward, a non-profit organization dedicated to bettering lives of those with spinal cord injuries or disability.
