On December 1 at 3PM, Newton historian Cynthia Cowan will speak about Finding Pamela: Writing a New History in the Community Room at Cabot Park Village (280 Newtonville Ave.). In her talk, Ms Cowan will examine the life of Pamela Sparhawk, a formerly enslaved Black woman who, after more than a decade of bondage in Boston and Newton, petitioned the Massachusetts General Court to recognize her heirship. This lecture is free and open to the public. Covid protocols: Masks are required, and visitors will sign in and have their temperatures taken. This presentation is part of the Cabot Black History Lecture Series, which Lionel Porter has organized at Cabot Park Village for the last five years.
