FUUSN hosts free Environmental Warriors Climate webinar, Oct. 22

The First Unitarian Universalist Society in Newton invites the entire Newton community to an online workshop — Saturday, October 22, 10:30AM-12 Noon — on opportunities for collective environmental action — working together for energy and hope. Learn about local and statewide organizations advocating for societal change and decide where to add your own time, talents, and energy. (Zoom link) Speakers:

  • Demie Stathoplos is a full time volunteer climate activist, FUUSN’s Climate Action Task force, the Newton node of 350Mass, UUMass Action’s Climate leadership team, and Sustaining All Life, an international organization climate activists with tools to increase effectiveness and reduce burnout.  She recruits climate enthusiasts in Newton’s faith communities to bring them together and boost their spiritual call to care for creation.
  • Roger Luckmann is a retired professor of family medicine, Natick resident, and a vegetarian, serving on the legislative, research, and leadership teams of Elders Climate Action Massachusetts. He focuses on Massachusetts climate policy and legislation, on related state and local programs, and on advocacy.

The First Unitarian Universalist Society in Newton (FUUSN) is a welcoming community of about 450 adults and 200 children and youth, united by shared values. We are brave, curious, and compassionate thinkers and doers — diverse in faith, ethnicity, history and spirituality, but aligned in our desire to make a difference for the good.
