City Seeks Feedback on Village Center Zoning Redesign

The City has released an online feedback tool to gather opinions — from as many residents and stakeholders as possible — about how zoning in Newton’s village centers should be redesigned. The feedback tool asks about issues (building heights, ratios of building size to lot size, parking ratios) that will affect housing density, walkability to public transportation, energy efficiency, and many other important issues. It’s available until October 16. For questions or technical support, email zoningredesign@newtonma.gov.

The City will hold an online information session on Thursday, September 8, 6PM-7PM.  Register here.  There is also a display at the Newton Public Library about the issue.

In addition, the City will be co-hosting equitable focus groups for community members with specific identities — Ages 15-24, Ages 25 – 35, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous & People of Color), People with Disabilities, Renters. Fill out this interest form to be notified.

The City encourages all stakeholders — renters, home owners, business owners, students, and people who shop in Newton — to fill out the feedback tool and to share it widely. The more people who share their thinking, the better the chance that the results will reflect the desires of the community.
