Cabot Black History Lecture: Prof. Cornell William Brooks on “The Legacy of Emmett Till and George Floyd at the Midterms” — Sept. 15

On September 15 at 3PM, Harvard Kennedy School Prof. Cornell William Brooks will speak about The Legacy of Emmett Till and George Floyd at the Midterms in the Community Room at Cabot Park Village (280 Newtonville Ave.). This lecture is free and open to the public. Covid protocols: Masks are required, and visitors will sign in and have their temperatures taken. This presentation is part of the Cabot Black History Lecture Series, which Lionel Porter has organized at Cabot Park Village for the last five years.

Brooks served as president of the NAACP from 2014 to 2017, reinvigorating its activist social justice heritage and dramatically increasing membership. Earlier, as president and CEO of the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, he led the passage of pioneering legislation in criminal justice reform and housing. This year, he received Harvard Kennedy School’s Innovations in Teaching award.
