WestMetro HOME Consortium will meet virtually (Zoom link) on Thursday, September 8 at 9AM. The Consortium was formed in 1991 in an effort to receive and distribute HOME Investment Partnership Program funds — i.e., federal block grant funds distributed to state and local municipalities to create affordable housing for low-income individuals and families. Newton is the lead member of the consortium, which includes Bedford, Belmont, Brookline, Concord, Framingham, Lexington, Natick, Needham, Sudbury, Waltham, Watertown, and Wayland. Together they have distributed over $35 million in grants and loans to for-profit and non-profit developers and created over 550 units of affordable housing. See agenda.

Newton Upper Falls Historic District Commission will meet virtually (Zoom link) on Thursday, September 8 at 7PM. The agenda includes the following:
- Request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to build a stone retaining wall and replace the existing stone wall at 65 Oak Street
- Request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to renovate an existing house and build an addition with an attached garage and build a new unit with an attached garage at 14 Summer Street

Waban Area Council will meet virtually (Zoom link) on Thursday, September 8 at 7:30 p.m. Visit the Waban Area Council’s website for the agenda.
Newton Housing Authority will be holding a public hearing — in person in the Newton Housing Authority’s Community Room (82 Lincoln Street) and virtually (Zoom link) — on Friday, September 9 at 2PM. The public hearing will provide the Housing Authority with an opportunity to receive feedback and comments from Housing Authority residents and the general public about the Annual Plan that the Housing Authority will be submitting to the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). According to the hearing announcement, “The Authority shall consider the concerns of any Local Tenants’ Organization (LTO) or Resident Advisory Board (RAB) regarding needs and priorities and incorporate some or all of such needs and priorities in the draft plan if deemed by the Authority to be consistent with sound management,” and comments received will be summarized and included in its submission of the plan to DHCD. Comments can be submitted orally at the public hearing, or in writing by email, or mailed to the Housing Authority office (82 Lincoln Street, Newton, MA 02461) and must be received no later than the close of the public hearing.
