What’s Up in Newton — Week of 8/28/2022

Congressman Jake Auchincloss is hosting a series of “Coffee with Your Congressman” gatherings — free and open to the public — at local cafes and restaurants throughout the 4th Congressional District he represents. The meeting in Newton will be this Wednesday, August 31 from 9:30AM to 10:30AM. RSVP here and the location details will be sent to you before the event. For more information, call Rep. There are no City Council meetings scheduled for this week.

Newton Parks, Recreation, and Culture Department is hosting a virtual community meeting and update (Zoom link) on the Spears Park Community Garden Project on Monday, August 29 at 6PM (Meeting Notice). The proposed project will utilize 1/4 acre of land to create a community garden on the North side of the City. (See initial presentation and kick-off meeting notes and second presentation and community meeting #2 recording).

Two Full demolitions, one Partial demolition, drainage improvements (for Brae Burn Country Club), and presentation and approval of an Eagle Scout project (Cliff Trail project – construction of stairs at trail by cliffs in the NW corner of Webster Conservation Area) are on the Conservation Commission’s agenda for this Thursday, September 1 at 7PM (Zoom link).

Two applications for Page Road are before the Newtonville Historic District Commission for their meeting on Thursday, September 1 at 7:30PM (Zoom link).
