Green Newton is recruiting volunteers to continue a city campaign to improve residents’ awareness of what can and cannot be recycled in our green bins. Between now and mid-October, volunteers will walk neighborhood routes 7AM-9:30AM on trash days (only in good weather) to apply educational stickers to the tops of green recycling bins and lift lids to note contamination of recycling streams. Volunteers should be ready to walk at least one route per week and be prepared for the benefits of regular exercise and assisting in recycling education to reduce recycling contamination.
